Standards & Certifications:
Force360 recognize that without product certification by a Notified Body all product performance testing, and adherence to standards claims cannot be independently verified. If they are not as claimed, serious safety implications for the wearer, and legal implications for the supplier and protection from a single manufacturing partner even the employer may arise. Force360 source their entire range of head protection from a single manufacturing partner to ensure consistency and reliability of product, but most importantly the manufacturer have taken the further step of engaging a globally recognized Notified Body to audit and certify both the manufacturing process and the products. All Force360’s head protection is certified to the latest AS/NZS head protection standards.

Type 1 or Type 2:
- Type 1 – Type 1 hard hats are made from lightweight, high impact rated ABS. This hard hat is suited to most everyday applications that are not heat related, it is the most common hard hat for construction and general head protection from impacts
- Type 2 – Type 2 hard hats are made from high impact related polycarbonate. This hard hat is suited to high heat applications like smelters and foundry works. Type 2 hard hats should be worn where there is a risk of exposure to high heat and fire
Cleaning, maintenance and replacement of Hard Hats:
- Consult the manufacturer’s information on proper care and maintenance, including which cleaning products and other materials may have a damaging effect on the hat
- Clean the hard hat regularly with warm water and soap, allowing it to air dry
- Inspect the shell, headband, suspension system and other accessories daily before use. This inspection should focus on finding cracks, tears, punctures, holes and any other damage. The headband must be stretched or worn out and the hat should always fit well and comfortably
- Store the hard hat in a safe environment that is away from any direct sunlight or extremes of temperature.
- Avoid contact with paints, paint thinners or corrosive cleaning agents, which can weaken the shells of the hat and even eliminate electrical resistance
- Do not drill holes in the hard hat and avoid applying labels as it may reduce the integrity of the protection
Replacing Hard Hats:
- You should immediately replace a hard hat if there are any signs of cracking, perforation or deformity to any part of the hard hat
- You should immediately replace a hard hat if there is any indication of exposure to heat, chemicals, UV light or any signs of flaking and loss of surface gloss
- You should immediately replace a hard hat if it experiences any serious impact, even if it shows no visible signs of the impact
- You should periodically replace a hard hat after 3 years from date of issue. The hard hat must have a sticker on the inside of the shell that allows the date of issue to be recorded. The internal harness should be replaced every two years
- Whilst under the AS/NZS 1800 standard there is no maximum shelf-life date, manufacturers recommend hard hats should not be sold if they are older than five years. All hard hats must be stamped with their manufactured month and year
- This date is found stamped on the inside of the hard hat, usually on the peak
