KIS Silicone Contact Layer is an open mesh, soft silicone dressing that allows exudate to pass through to the secondary dressing. This contact layer is designed for the management of dry to heavily exuding wounds. The dressing can also be used in combination with topical treatments/ hydrogels and may be used in conjunction with negative pressure wound therapy.
Tips for using Silicone Contact Layer:
- Clean the wound in accordance with normal procedure then dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
- Select an appropriate sized dressing, larger than the wound, to ensure contact with the skin;
- Remove the releasing liner and apply the adherent side to the wound. Do not stretch. The dressing should overlap the dry surrounding skin by at least 1-2cm.
- If more than one piece of the dressing is required, overlap the dressing making sure that the holes are not blocked.
- Apply a secondary dressing.
- Can be left on wound for up to 7 days.
Indications:
- Skin tears
- Pressure injuries
- Leg and foot ulcers
- Traumatic wounds
- Surgical wounds
- Donor sites
- Burns (superficial & partial thickness)
The dressing can also be used on dry/necrotic wounds in combination with gels.
Contraindications:
- Do not use this product on patients with known sensitivity to any components of the product.
- Do not use KIS Silicone Wound Contact Layer together with an oxidising agent such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide.

- Conforms to the wound and retains its position;
